SPECIFIC IMAGO THERAPY REFERENCES

These are the foundational books which guide you on a deeper study of the techniques and theory of Imago work. They will help you with the why and the how of the process, and will help you implement it in your own relationships.

1. New Title Bolsters Imago Theory with Research on Brain
“A General Theory of Love” by Thomas Lewis, MD, Fari Amini, MD and Richard Lannon, MD, Random House, NY, 2000. This remarkable book traces what is known at the frontiers of research on brain development and ties it directly to the role of love in interpersonal relationships. The parallels with the independently developed Imago theory and this solid work are a delight to those of us who said, “I just knew this stuff had to be right!” when we first came to know the Imago work. It seems that medical research comes to the unavoidable and profoundly important conclusion that love is a vital component of a well-functioning person’s life.
2. Getting the Love You Want: A Guide For Couples, by Harville Hendrix, PhD, Harper Perennial, NY, 1990

4. Giving the Love that Heals: A Guide for Parents, Harville Hendrix and Helen Hunt

5. The Couple's Companion: Meditations and Exercises for "Getting the Love You Want," by Harville Hendrix and Helen Hunt
